Stitch Fix Review – September 2016

September is here & with it some cooler temperatures in Illinois.  I honestly love summer, so I am kind of dreading the cold & dreary, but the one thing I do love about fall?  I bet you can guess: CLOTHES.  Cardigans are my fav.  I could live in them.

After my last, fantastic, August fix (here), I requested Kate as my permanent stylist by emailing Stitch Fix‘s customer service email:  She’ll be styling me from now on – yay!

(If you are new to Stitch Fix skip to the end of this post for a short description of the whats and how-tos & for a link to sign up for your own box of happiness!)

For my September fix, here’s what my note said:

And Kate did a great job!

This time I DID NOT PEEK at the fix before it came (torture) so when I opened the box, I had no idea what would be inside.

My initial thoughts were: There wasn’t a lot of color & the printed pants were a little “out there” for me.  But after reading Kate’s note, the pants were my “out of the box” item, so that totally made sense!

I loved the idea of putting the elephant top with the printed pants after reading the note, so that’s exactly what I did!

Let’s dive in!

Item # 1:  Evolution by Cyrus Ladera Open Cardigan

Basically as soon as I felt this cardigan, I knew I would keep it.  It’s SO soft.

It’s nice & long in the sleeves, a great neutral color (so it will go with everything), and it’s SO soft (did I mention that already?).

I will almost always say YES to a cardi.

I plan to keep it!

Item # 2: Tart Milla Crew Neck Knit Top

Well this top just screams: FALL.  The color combination is fantastic!

It is nice & long, form-fitting without being too tight, and a fun piece. 🙂

I’m on the fence about this one – I like it, but not sure if I would often wear it.  Plus, I think almost $60 for a knit top (no matter the colors/stripes) is steep.  What do you all think?

Items # 3 & 4: Liverpool Anita Printed Skinny Pant AND Pixley Ellie Printed 3/4 Sleeve Blouse

As I mentioned before – Kate suggested that I pair these two items together and add a statement necklace to the outfit, which I did:

I have to admit, I really liked the 2 items together – it felt much more edgy that I typically wear.

The pants: so they are more of a legging material than a jean and pretty form-fitting.  They are also super long (for all my tall girls out there).

The top is very blouse-y on me & boxy (according to my husband/photographer)

The elephants are CUTE though.

I’m pretty sure I won’t keep the pants, but am unsure on the top – what do you all think?

Item # 5:  Brixon Ivy Sylvester Split Neck Blouse

You guys.  The color of this top is gorgeous.  I love bold jewel tones like this!

I kept it simple with the outfit & loved that I still felt dressy.

My husband thought this was too boxy, too, like the Elephant top.  But I like it!  My only hesitation is that it’s Polyester (I’m preferring knit items more and more these days) and that the length is a little short.  I’m undecided on this one, too!

Overall this was a great fix!  Even the “out of the box” item was a fun try-on.  I love that about Stitch Fix: you style things you never would otherwise.

What do you think?  What would you keep?  I love shopping “virtually” with you!

  1. I love it all on you! I think the pants and elephant top look great and not boxy at all. The pink top isn’t too short or boxy imo. You’re right, the striped top screams fall and football and pumpkins and everything I love about this time of year. I’d be tempted to keep everything!

  2. It is all good for sure but I’d go a slightly different direction. First of all I love the striped top on you – great with your coloring and has a fun vibe about it which matches your smile. I say that’s a definite KEEP. Also liked the pink top and agree with other reply that it is not too boxy imo, and again really brings out your “shine”. And I also liked the pants! They may be outside the box but still a great workable piece – sort of neutral but not just another boring pair of black pants or leggings. Especially for Fall and Winter plus they look great on you! Personal taste issue but I don’t care for the elephant top and agree that style and print make it boxy.

My first peek at Stitch Fix and you are a cool ambassador for their product! Good luck!

  3. I agree! Everything looks great. But I understand about the striped shirt, if you’re not totally “sold” on it and are unsure you’ll wear it much, $60 is a lot!
WHERE did you get the necklace you have on with the jewel tone shirt? I’m looking for a long simple necklace like that!

    1. Of course you can – they are LuLaRoe brand. The clothing seems to be popping up everywhere – it’s a little pricey, but the most comfortable leggings I’ve ever worn! And I’m 6 foot, so it’s nice they have a tall option. 🙂 If you don’t know someone who sells LuLaRoe, I can recommend a few people I buy from 🙂 All LuLaRoe consultants should ship their products if you aren’t local to them.
